3rd Annual State of the San Lorenzo River Symposium
March 4, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin local experts for a day of presentations and discussions about the San Lorenzo River watershed, with an emphasis on the science, history, and policies related to water flow. Flow in the San Lorenzo River Watershed is critical to our local drinking water supplies and wildlife. Learn the importance of flow to special status fish species, how flow has changed overtime, and how flow relates to groundwater, climate change and more.
Speakers:
Keynote speaker John Laird, California Secretary for Natural Resources, will close the event with a talk about State and Federal policies and ramifications for restoring the San Lorenzo River Watershed. Additional speakers include Chris Berry (City of Santa Cruz), Shawn Chartrand (Balance Hydrologics), John Ricker (County of Santa Cruz), Jeff Nolan (Nolan Associates), and Kristen Kittleson (County of Santa Cruz).
An interactive tour:
Part of the Exploring the San Lorenzo River Series led by the Coastal Watershed Council and the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History will be offered immediately following the symposium. Participants of all ages are welcome to join us in exploring fish in the lower San Lorenzo River. The March 4th tour will begin at 1:15. There are 8 other tour dates between February 18th and April 22nd. You can register for any of the tour dates here.
